Rutgers U. Students Released On $25,000 On Cyber-Voyeurism: Now Suicide Involved
18-year-old Rutgers University freshman killed himself by jumping into the Hudson River last Wednesday after two classmates streamed his sexual encounter with another man on the Internet via webcam, Rutgers University freshman Tyler Clementi, 18, committed suicide by plunging into the Hudson River last Wednesday, the NY Daily News confirms.
Clementi’s roommate Dharun Ravi and fellow Rutgers student Molly Wei have been arrested on charges of cyber-voyeurism and invasion of privacy for secretly videotaping Clementi’s sexual encounter and splashing it across the Internet. They have been released after posting $25,000 bail.
Ravi and Wei streamed Clementi’s sex session with a hidden dorm room camera, and appalling details of the incident that may have pushed the subject of the videotape over the edge were made public one day after their arrest.
