The owner of a bail bond agency was shot and killed after entering a residence in Rancho Santa Margarita late Saturday night, police said.

Dean Patrick Maldonado, 49, of Newport Beach entered a house through an unlocked sliding glass backdoor just before midnight Saturday, Orange County Sheriff's spokesman said.

The home belonged to Linda Shaw,45, who friends say was Maldonado's girlfriend.

Shaw was home with a 51-year-old male guest.

Neighbors said they heard screams and arguing, then multiple shots fired.
Maldonado, who runs a Bail Bond company, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Sheriff’s spokesman said the shooting is under investigation, and that the 51 year old man in Shaw's house had been questioned.

No arrests have been made.
