Latest NFL Dustup With Law

The latest NFL dustup with cops involves Arizona Cardinals linebacker Joey Porte who was arrested by California Highway Patrol early Saturday in Bakersfield, Ca. his hometown.
Tuesday his wife and lawyer were claiming misdeeds by the CHP officer. Porter was on his way to team workouts in Georgia.

Reportedly Porter stopped behind another traffic stop in a Taco Bell parking lot in Bakersfield, California...A CHP press release said when one of the officers contacted Porter “he smelled alcohol” and asked for Porter's license; he refused and tried to roll up the window and slapped the patrolman’s hand away when he reached inside to unlock the door.

The 33-year old Porter, all 6’3”, 260 pounds of him, got out of his vehicle and acted in a "confrontational manner"; the officer drew his ASP, which is a baton. Porter was ordered to the ground but failed to comply and only placed his hands behind his head.

Porter was taken into custody at 1:40am and booked into the Kern County jail at 2:47am. Porter faces misdemeanor DUI, resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer. He posted bail and is no longer in custody.

Tuesday local media is reporting that Joey’s wife, Christy is claiming the CHP patrolman struck Joey in the face and that the charges are “false, and we're looking to exonerate his name 100 percent."

Porter played for Pittsburgh and Miami is a four time pro-bowler, and won the Super Bowl with the Steelers Two Pittsburgh Steelers are currently embroiled in separate sexual assault incidents although no charges have been filed against either man.
