A 3-year old child is in critical condition at UC Davis Medical Center, and his 19 year old father and 22 year-old step mother are in custody for his beating. The father was also booked for parole violation. The woman was also booked on outstanding warrants related to theft and failure to appear in court connected to not paying a Regional Transit fare.

The child suffered head injuries and bruising to his body. Both suspects are being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
