$3 Million Bail Stands in Oakland Transit Murder
On New Year’s Day 2009 a white San Francisco Bay Area Transit officer shot and killed a 22-year old black man on a commuter train platform. The whole thing is recorded on security video that went viral on the internet touching off race riots there.
The 26-year old officer was arrested and charged with murder and bail was set and a judge just ruled it would not be reduced.
The officer pled not guilty saying he thought he had his Tazer when he fired kliing the man. The bail hearing attracted protestors outside the court house but, there was no additional violence.
The defendant remains confined pending trial now set for June 7, 2010.
